Vapour Blasting Service

Alongside heat exchanger and oil cooler refurbishment, Brehon Engineering provides a quick-turnaround vapour blasting service for removable engineering components across the Bailiwick of Guernsey. Using British-designed and manufactured equipment, the wet blasting process removes contamination, oxidation, light corrosion and scale while producing a controlled, even finish.

Because cleaning and surface conditioning occur in the same operation, it is well suited to components that need to be degreased, refreshed, inspected or prepared for subsequent coating. Corrosion inhibitors can be added to the process mixture where required.

Vapour blasting is a workshop-based service only — we do not carry out full vehicle blasting or onsite work. Most jobs are returned within 5 working days.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is vapour blasting and how is it different from sandblasting?

Vapour blasting (wet blasting) uses a mixture of water and fine abrasive media to clean and condition surfaces. Unlike dry sandblasting, it produces a smoother, more even finish and is gentler on aluminium and other soft metals. It also degreases and cleans in the same operation.

What types of components can you vapour blast?

We work on marine engine components (water pumps, heat exchangers, filter housings), marine running gear (propellers, rudders, skin fittings), automotive and motorcycle parts (aluminium castings, rocker covers, brake callipers), and agricultural or heritage items. Workshop-based only — no full vehicle blasting or onsite work.

How long does vapour blasting take?

Most jobs are returned within 5 working days. Turnaround depends on the size and number of components. Contact us with details of your job and we will confirm the timescale.
